WASTING AWAY – SUPERIOR MESENTERIC ARTERY SYNDROME IN A YOUNG GIRL – A CASE REPORT

The case of an 18-year-old girl with Superior Mesenteric Artery syndrome is presented here. She to us complaints anorexia, nausea, vomiting, and weight loss for the past year. was cachectic volume-depleted. All investigations preliminary imaging were inconclusive. Upper GI endoscopy revealed normal structure up second part duodenum. Contrast-enhanced Computerized Tomography abdomen pelvis did not reveal any intra- or extra-luminal pathology. patient unwilling undergo surgical correction opted conservative treatment. This highlights importance considering SMA in differential diagnosis patients presenting anorexia emphasizes changing epidemiology syndrome.
